Label Franc Éducation

Ein Zertifkat des französischen Außenministeriums

A few days ago, the Europaschule Erkelenz received some special mail: our school was awarded the coveted LabelFrancÉducation certificate.

For the past 10 years, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has awarded the LabelFrancÉducation label to schools with outstanding bilingual branches worldwide. The aim of this label, managed by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), is to promote and support the teaching of French and the study of French language and culture outside France.

There are 586 LabelFrance schools in 60 countries worldwide. In Germany, 20 schools have received this award, 3 of them - besides ours - in North Rhine-Westphalia.

With our French bilingual branch, which was initiated by our former French teacher, Martha Pierre, and the then headmaster, Willi Schmitz, the Europaschule Erkelenz fulfils the required conditions that contribute to a special quality of French teaching. In addition to the increased French and bilingual subject teaching in the bilingual branch, other factors taken into account include the linguistic qualifications of the French teachers, the DELF-Scolaire, pedagogical concepts in the area of teaching and further training of the teachers, the exchanges and other Francophone activities. The dossier, prepared under the leadership of Mr Ratajski and Mr Pierre, was closely scrutinised. The schools in the network will have access to a range of pedagogical materials as well as in-service training.

We are pleased about the award and are looking forward to the awarding of the label, which is still pending.
